OBEY YOUR ELDERS...

In our childhood days, we all were very energetic and it could be seen in our actions. Whenever I had any event or ceremony in my home, my elder brother always advised me to sit quiet in a place, but I did not obey him and the consequences of it made me indulge in so much work that was assigned by my parents. I did not sit quietly but keep on dealing with the interior and the exterior of the home. When moving inside home my mother assigned me some work like going to market for bringing something, calling by neighbour’s aunt, picking up some relatives from bus stop etc. while moving outside home my father assigned me some work like bringing sweets, tea, snacks and drinking water for the guests etc. at the same time if I completed the task late or did some irregularity my work then I had to get scolding from both mother and father.

No one can deny with the fact, the more work you do the more mistakes you will attempt. Working so much for both mother and father I was not praised but I have to face the music for some irregular assignment. While my elder brother always got praise, sitting calmly in a quiet place. My elder brother always chose a place on the upper floors of the house where no one could assign him any work. He could see all through the gallery, the persons who were present outside the home in the lawn. He kept information of activities inside home from the person who came to him. He kept on enjoying and talking to his friends. He left his seat only when he saw or got any information of critical situation when both mother and father really needed his help.

That time I did not understand such things. But I realised after writing engineering exam and getting engineering degree, when I became an engineer. I had to go through seven sites which were in a distance of one kilometre to two kilometres far from my office. The site nearest from office was one kilometre and the farthest was two kilometres. Unlike any professional assistant engineer, my boss also did not like my sitting in office but like myself moving in site and sitting there.

In engineering industry it was supposed that an engineer is born to do only site work, it is not good for an engineer to do office work. I saw some of my colleagues try moving here and there from this site to that site and sometime from office to site and vis-à-vis. Consequences of it made they met so many seniors during going here or there, sometime they met with mechanical in-charge and they had to face scolding for no reason or for very silly things or any wrong course of action, sometime they had to meet with electrical in-charge and had to face scolding for no reason or for silly things. Sometimes they met with manager and they had to face scolding for no reason or for silly things. Sometimes safety in-charge also met with them and scolded for no reason or for very silly things which were not in order.

I now remember my elder brother's advice and to try to sit quietly in the site farthest form the office,  where hardly any one comes. It made my reputation well and I had very less chances to face any of the in-charges or seniors. And there were also very less chances to get scolding. Even sometimes any senior comes to the site and found the engineer on site then he feel glad that engineer is present on site leaving the air-conditioned office and monitoring the work going on. It also reduced the chances of getting unnecessary assignment. Being an engineer, on site leaving tea or coffee of office, there are very less chances to get scolding but even I get praise of highest degree for not attempting many mistakes.
