BOOK REVIEW: SAPIENS: A BRIEF HISTORY OF HUMANKIND
Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind Paperback
Author: Yuval Noah Harari
Print length: 512 pages
Publisher: Penguin Random House
I am a bit interested in history and moreover in human evolution. So I picked this book. I completed this book in almost twenty hours (not continuous). Stuff like this, history is not very easy to read and understand, its fact, and numbers involved in it, it's so difficult to remember but continuous reading, day by day, completed this book. I am surprised; I found so many information and facts about India mostly unknown facts and events related to ancient history.
While reading the book, I find some amazing facts, exceptional metaphors and overview of humankind in very interesting way. We find awareness in this book about philosophical, economical, global warming; artificial intelligence is very attention seeking with respect to future outlook.
The book is written in mostly practical form not in much theory and each and every old fact is related to our modern life, how it affected in our day to day life with some question marks. These questions compel us to take a pause and think for a while.
This book is about evolution of humankind but moreover summary and opinion on human being. It helps us to understand reasons of facts and form our own opinion about human being to see the world in different perspective.
We read about our happiness and future perspective of human being. In most of the history books we lack this knowledge, reading this book will definitely change our views on chasing happiness.
This book is not so subtle petition, it also urges from us to accept responsibility for human race and the potential track we are running on. We understand the consequences of critical innovation human made like agriculture, animal husbandry, industries, space science, information technology etc. They did all this because they had problems and pressure to resolve all this.
From the starting of the book it challenges the reader’s dominant narrative every time. I recommend this book to one who has an interest in history and curious to know human evolution.
In my opinion reading this vast subject is very important for us and to the children. In children they will learn how to study a tough subject and for us remembering facts and reasons which we suppose difficult it can be very easy, we will not feel board will not be tired.
In this book the author writes about my country India but not in much good sense. We read about Indian as we are unable to get more knowledge of science than Europeans. But Indians were the first to calculate the speed of light, distance from the sun, Indian invented the most used mathematical system with numerical. We are also got praise for medicine, plastic surgery, Ayurveda and anaesthesia. Indians were always enslaved, looted by foreigners; it dominated us and threw us in debt. Europeans always wandered for a survival. Europeans was very cruel for its people and lack the resources that’s why most of European empires looked for other’s land and resources to survive. That time India subcontinent was known as heaven it had very fertile land and full of resources.
Well done.. review books 😊
