HOW TO WRITE AN ARTICLE

For a newspaper, an article is a set of content that discuss the hot topic of common interest or any specific problem (political, business, technology, science) etc.

It is a description of the topic from starting to the ending with eyewitness accounts of incident. The sole aim of writing this set is to publish it in particular platform. It includes facts, news items, reports etc. These things make it different from an essay. Article is a written composition but essay is a literary composition.

How to plan and research the topic?

Writing the article without any research may lack the quality and facts involved in the topic. Before research plan for a topic which is hot and most of the people are interested to read it.

Research which add quality to the article and make it competent enough to reach for mass consumption. It can last from several hours to several days depending upon the author’s interest. It can be done through online and offline but with the best resources available.

It is a collection of some words that are highlighted on the top of the article to briefly tell the readers about the theme. The headlines should be written as per the AP style in which first letter of each word is capital and number should not be spelt. By-line is basically author’s name.

What is lead?

This is the main paragraph of the article. This includes the question who, when, where and how. The events should be in chronological order. It should be written in such a manner to excite an urge in the readers mind to go through the end. This is the base of the article.
