BOOK SUMMARY : EAT THAT FROG
Eat that Frog is written my Brain Tracy. In the book frog refers to a task and eat refers to accomplishment.
Sometimes we all need to start something but we never plan. We should sit down calmly, make a list and then pour all our energy in accomplishing one item from the list.
We can do something best with what we have, where we are.
The first law of success is concentration, to employ all our energy to one point and to go directly to that point without any obstacle.
Procrastination is a natural phenomenon but it greatly depends on us what we choose to procrastinate on.
We should do the worst first.
We can ask three questions-
What are my highest value activities?
What can I and only I do that if done well will make a real difference?
What is the most valuable use of my time right now?
Begin a task, engaged with it, the mind will follow and the work will be completed.
The thinks for us that matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least for us.
We all do not have enough time to do everything but we all have enough time to do the most important thing.
For any task motivation requires motive. The greater the potential positive impact that an action or behaviour of ours can have on our life, once we define it clearly the more motivated we will be to overcome procrastination and get it done quickly.
Long term thinking improves short term decision making.
The potential consequences of any task or activity are the key determinants of how important a task really is to us and this way of evaluating the significance of a task is how we determine what our next frog really is.
Effective, productive people discipline themselves to start on the most important task that is before them. They force themselves to eat that frog whatever it is.
Resist the temptation to clear up the small things first.
One item on a list of ten tasks that we have to do can be worth more than all the other nine items put together. This task is invariably the frog that we should eat first.
Lay out each of our major goals, projects or tasks by priority, what is most important and by sequence what has to be done first what comes second and so forth. Start with the end in mind and work backward.
Focus should be on 6P…
Proper prior planning prevents poor performance.
For anyone to achieve any kind of success execution is everything.
There is one quality that one possesses to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants and a burning desire to achieve it.
The habit of setting priorities, overcoming procrastination, getting on with our most important task is a natural and physical skill.
The first rule of frog eating is if you have to eat two frogs, eat the ugliest one first. The second rule of frog eating is, if you have to eat a live frog at all, it does not pay to sit and look at it for very long.
Our ability to select the most important task at each time, and then to get started on that task and to get it done both quickly and well will probably have more of an impact on our success than any other quality or skill we can develop.
