NANI'S HOME PART 1

It was hot day when Ram and Shyam came from his school. They used to go and come to his school by walking. Their school was almost one and half kilometre far from their home.

They hardly go and come alone. They were occupied by some other boys and girls of their neighbour friends. The way to go to school comprised of some distance of inside village, beside crop field, beside a big pond, a garden of mangoes. They used to reach their school while facing all these things. Beside the pond they used to see so many dead bodies of animals. People of nearby villages used to throw their animal’s bodies when it was dead. Sometimes Shyam feared and felt like the skeleton was coming towards him.

Ram was elder and Shyam was younger. One day they planned to go to their Nani’s(maternal grandmother) home. Ram had a bicycle and he was good at it. They planned to ask their mother for it.

After finishing their homework there reached to their mother. It was evening.

They: Mother, can we go to our Nani’s home?

Mother: Why?

Shyam: We both are feeling bore, as we are going only to school from home and from home to school. Ram bhaiya (brother) is good at cycling.

It was a traditional cycle which his father bought for himself.

Mother: But what about your studies?

Shyam: Mother, we will go on Saturday afternoon and come back on Sunday evening. As it is one of the nearest places we can visit by cycle. It is almost two and half kilometres. Ram bhaiya knew the way of going to Nani’s home.

Mother: But you do not go by road as there are so many vehicles run on the roads, go by kacha rasta (rough road), through canal and crop field. Shyam, you first go to guptian aunty, she will sew your torn pant.

They got permission. They started preparing to go to their Nani’s home. They thought to study in advance and complete all the home work so that they would not have tension of study.

They both selected their clothes to wear and to take with them. They asked their mother to wash some of the clothes. Ram also asked Shyam to take at least one book. We might get time to read, and our mother would also feel good for us.

They were eagerly waiting for tomorrow. It was Saturday. They both were excited. Ram asked Shyam not to tell anyone that we planned to go to our Nani’s home. Someone might have an evil eye on us and our plan would fail.

They came back from school, took food and get ready to leave. They took their school bag to carry their clothes. His mother gave each of them ten rupees and asked them to go safely. Ram took out his cycle. He picked a cloth to clean his cycle. Shaym fixed his school bag in cycle’s carrier. He sat on the rod of the cycle. They left his house.

As said by their mother not to go by road, so they chose kacha rasta to go. While cycling some distance, Shyam saw a temple. He asked his brother to stop.

Ram asked for the reason.

Shyam: Our father took blessing from this temple. Whenever, he goes to any other place. We should go to take blessing.

Ram: If we stop to take blessing then we will be late to reach.

He did not stop the cycle. Cycling some distance, they have to cycle beside a canal. Shyam was in fear.

He said, “Bhaiya cycle carefully, do not fall the cycle inside canal.”
