HOW TO READ BOOKS EFFECTIVELY


 
They are not thousands of good books that I want to read and implement on myself. I read so many books and reading still. Sometime a book takes two to three days and sometime it took one to two weeks to finish the book. Sometime we understand so much and sometime very less. But every time we think, are we reading it correctly? Will we be able to implement its teachings? Will this book make a change in our thinking or in our personality? I hope everyone sail through these questions while holding a book to get across.

We all understand that reading books is one of the best habits. There are so many people who read every day. Here reading books refers to fiction and non-fiction books.

There is some techniques bellow to make our reading effective…

➤ Ask questions

What do I know about this book?

What more I want to know?

➤ Take Pauses and Retrospect

Does reading this make sense?

How does this information connect to what I already know?

What does author mean to say?

I still need to know more about something?

➤ Comprehend the difficult section by doing

Pause and think about what was discussed.

Break the text into smaller parts

Look up words which you did not understand in the book

Build a short summary of what you read in the book.

Discuss what you read in the book with someone.

➤ Visualise

Picturing the text, it might look like.

Create a mental image of a system, or a process of working.

➤ Make connections

➤ Make notes

Look for the main ideas of the book and focus on them.

Use the words you understand and the language you are comfort in.

Make the notes as brief as possible that can be revised easily.

Use simple headings and subheadings to organise your notes, you can also use multicolour.

Constantly review, add and revise, implement the ideas in your life.

What was the most important think you remember about the book?

What was the main message of the book?

What could be the biases of the book?

There are so many people who choose to read book in physical form and other people choose to read books on kindle or listen audio books. Each and every mode of reading is good as per one’s lifestyle and comfort.

While reading physical book is the oldest way and most effective way to read the book. You can read a book for so many hours without any tire or having strain in eyes.

Some people prefer full silence to read a book while some people can read it even in trains or in any inconvenient conditions. You can read a book as you feel comfortable.

Most of people prefer to read a book in morning due to calm environment and quite brain. You have ample time to read if you start form morning.

You can choose your pace of reading a book rather moving fast just to finish the book. Each and every person has his own pace of learning and we should move as we enjoy.

Read the book while following physical comfort. Reading the book and learning nothing will not be significant. Read where you have proper light. Read and take break at proper time. You may feel strain in your eyes.
