BOOK SUMMARY: TUESDAY WITH MORRIE

The book Tuesday with Morrie is written by Mitch Albom. The book is a conversation of a student and his professor. His professor is Morrie and the student is Mitch.

The story of the book starts from college Brandeis where Mitch studied. Mitch was one of the favourite students of Morrie. At the end of college some of the students promised to be in touch and they would also be in touch with their professor.

In the conversation Mitch knew that Morrie like to eat, to dance, to have more fun even in his sixties and seventies. After some time Morrie got ill from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). It is nervous system disease. It could weaken muscle and impacts physical functions. He got to know that very soon he would die.

One day Mitch saw Morrie in a garden. It was almost fifteen years passed. Morrie was in wheelchair. He could not walk due to weakening of his muscles. Mitch realised that he made false promise with his professor to be in touch.

Mitch decided to meet Morrie. They met on Tuesday and after that they used to meet on this day. Mitch every time comes with some vegetables, chicken salad, cake, soup etc. Each time they had conversation on different subjects. Morrie shared his college experience.

Mitch asked Morrie if he had twenty four hours to live with full of energy then how would he live. Morrie said, “I get up in the morning, do my exercise, have a lovely breakfast, sweet rolls and tea. I go for a swim. Then I have my friends come over for a nice lunch. I had have them come one or two so we could talk about their families, their issues, talk about how much we mean to each other. Then I would like to go for a walk in a garden with some trees, watch their colours, watch the birds, take in the nature so long, now in the evening we had all go together to a restaurant with some great pasta, maybe some duck, I love duck and then we had dance rest of the night until I was exhausted. Then I will go home and have a deep sleep.”
