CWC #7 PRINCIPLE OF CREATIVE WRITING
Every human being always tries to fulfil not only his primary needs like food, clothing and shelter but also social need of communication with others to share his emotions and experience.
Most of the people primarily write to express him not necessarily for money and fame.
Writing is divided into 2 types, creative and non-creative. Creative writing is for reveal something, non creative writing is for information.
The three essential aspects of a literary work are content, form and structure. Style is the way of expression, the manipulation of language. But the content someone writes should be credible and authentic.
Creative writing cannot be learnt but can only be cultivated and for this, critical reading is necessary.
The art of writing is like giving birth in that it is preceded by a duration of gestation of ideas.
Clarity of thought and precision of expression are necessary. Overwriting and over elaboration should be avoided. A touch of humour always enlivens the writing.
There are some important values like readability, clarity, lucidity or directness to be cherished in writing for all creative writings it is aimed at a reader who must understand what you want to convey.
You have to achieve clarity, you must know, thoroughly and competently, what you want to be clear about. You have to mastery the subject completely to know its broad pattern and its details then you will be able to define for yourself what you want to say on the subject. For doing this you have to have a deep interest in the subject. Creativity and transparency which will be spontaneous and illuminating can emerge only from this way.
Scientists or any artists have this quality of creative expression and mere rigidity of academic discipline cannot help anyone to attain it. Clarity is directly related to response of your listener or your leader. If your writing fails to communicate, it has no meaning but clarity isn’t facile comprehensibility a mere simplicity of statement. This applies to complex and highly sensitive thoughts also, hence the difficulty in achieving clarity. To achieve clarity you have to be good at language for it is only by manipulating language skill fully that you can express great and complex thoughts effectively.
This type of manipulation is known as technique, in which the mastery of syntax is as important as a competent use of vocabulary.
A subject who can form the matter of creative writing must be interesting, interesting to you and to people who are going to read your content. Making things interesting is also a skill, and there are exercises which teach you how to do it. To make your writing creative you have to shape it in such a way that it becomes luminous and acquires the power to move others.
